Poldark actor Aidan Turner makes his West End debut in The Lieutenant of Inishmore, a violently dark comedy by the Oscar-winning Martin McDonagh.
MGC Artistic Director Michael Grandage directs the West End revival of Martin McDonagh's critically acclaimed, brilliant satire on terrorism, The Lieutenant of Inishmore. Aidan Turner, star of stage and screen, best known for his role in Poldark, will play Mad Padraic, a terrorist who is deemed too violent to be a member of the IRA, in this very hilarious, and somewhat acute observation of violence in contemporary culture.
Who knocked Mad Padraic's cat over on a lonely road on the island of Inishmore and was it an accident? He'll want to know when he gets back from a stint of torture and chip-shop bombing in Northern Ireland: he loves that cat more than life itself.
This production follows Michael Grandage's award-winning production of McDonagh's The Cripple of Inishmaan in 2013.

This play was hilarious. The whole of theatre was in stiches. Aidan Turner was fantastic.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the play and our visit to the Noël Cowerd Theatre. We thought that all the cast were excellent and would recommend the play to everyone (perhaps not the squeamish though!) Great job - thank you!!
I watched this show 3 times because it was quite simply the best one I have seen. Very funny, relevant and professional. The whole cast were superb; I've been a fan of Aidan Turner for a long time and he undoubtedly shone in the role buit his fellow cast members provided excellent support. My only regret is that a DVD wasn't made. Hopefully you will consider staging the play again, you certainly wouldn't have any trouble selling tickets. I and all my fellow Fan Club members would fill the theatre over and over again , just like we have just done.
Hilarious, shocking, and wildly entertaining
Brilliant show; funny, full of pathos, great acting, descends into madness mixed with wicked humour
Edgy and funny. Excellent.
I have seen this show 3 times over the summer, simply brilliant. Great production, supberb cast & Aidan Turner excelled as the lead character. I recommended it to everyone. It has sadly now finished its run.
Aidan Turner et al were excellent in this comedy.... sadly now finished... the staff at the theatre could do with some customer service training, hence 4 stars and not 5 ....
Excellent I thoroughly enjoyed the show stage production and acting top class

wonderful play - great value for money

With that being said, there is still time left to catch the following theatrical gems before they 'exit stage left' this month.
